Greenhouse Technology Improvements

Growing Spaces is constantly up-leveling the geodesic Growing Dome® kit.

We have implemented several upgrades throughout the years, increasing the longevity of our product. Some are included, some have an upgrade fee.

The Growing Dome greenhouse has stood its ground for over 20 years!

Lifetime Wood Treatment

Now, Lifetime Wood Treatment is used to treat the struts of our geodesic Growing Dome kits. With Lifetime only one application is needed, ever! This treatment is completely safe, harmless, and contains no solvents or VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). Lifetime is 100% water based, 100% non toxic, and non-flammable!

Multi-Wall Polycarbonate

Our glazing is made in the USA! 5-wall Glazing Replaces the 3-wall/Triple wall glazing.
Our Premium polycarbonate glazing has an improved insulation value from R 2.5 to R 3.03. Light transmission decreases about 10% - which has not been a problem.

Bottom Plate

All Growing Dome greenhouse kits come standard with a pressure treated Bottom Plate. We avoided pressure treated lumber for quite some time due to our customers' concerns about chemically treated wood. However, the treated lumber is covered with sheet metal on the inside, and fiber-cement siding on the outside. The geodesic dome then sits on a ring of washed gravel, which drains the moisture away, so the pressure treated portion does not come in contact with the soil. The pressure treated lumber plate lasts significantly longer than other options we have tested.

Your building department may require the pressure treated Bottom Plate, being it is termite resistant. Please, do check with your local building department before upgrading to Redwood.

Fiber Cement Siding is now standard!
We are now using fiber cement siding in leui of the T1-11 siding that was used in the past, at no extra cost to the you.

Metal Glazing Strips

Our custom designed aluminum trim strips are applied to the outside of the Growing Dome covering the joint sealing tape which extends the life of the tape. Enquire for upgrade prices for new domes and maintenance kits for existing domes.

Solar Cooling Fan Upgrade

The 26' Growing Dome is the only kit that includes (1) Solar Cooling Fan Kit, free of charge (a $465 value). We now supply a more energy efficient fan that produces the same airflow as our previous fans. The new fans have many more blades and are still able to work in cloudy conditions. In ultra-cloudy conditions, you may want to consider a power supply in addition to the solar panel.
